REVIEW: OMMA DAY CLUB – NEW DAY CLUB OPENED IN GIANYAR, UBUD

Omma is a new beautiful day club that is situated near the Tegenungan waterfall. If you are looking for a waterfall to visit without all the hassle of trekking up and down the steps, this is definitely the place for you.

Apart from the Tegenungan waterfall, they do have smaller waterfalls, the river through which the water flows. Overall a beautiful overview for your eyes to feast on.

To enter the entrance of Omma, there is a small fee to pass through the local village where Omma is built, 20k rupiah [~SGD 1.90]).

Note: You’d be asked to leave all food and drinks at the entrance, including any water bottles that you may have brought.

We reached the Day Club around 2:30 pm and settled in, the place was bustling with tourists and locals alike. Most of the clubs in Bali will require a minimum spend if you choose to sit at one of the tables. Of course, you can also opt for a seat in their free seating areas, which are mostly their dining or bar areas.

We decided to get a gazebo and paid a deposit of 500k rupiah [~SGD 44]. The deposit can be used to offset the food and drinks that you get.

The Food and Drinks that we ordered included the following:

Prawn Katsu Roll [130k RP ~ SGD 12] Crispy prawn katsu, gary, lettuce, teriyaki sauce, rolled on sushi rice, topped with mentai sauce and tobiko. This sushi roll was pretty delicious, but I did find the sauce just a bit too spicy for me.

Prawn Nasi Goreng [55k RP ~ SGD 9] Classic Balinese fried rice, serve with satay, chicken/prawn, and egg, served with shrimp crackers.

Chicken Mie Goreng [55k RP ~ SGD 9] Classic Balinese fried egg noodles, serve with satay chicken/prawn, egg, served with shrimp crackers

For both the Mie Goreng, and Nasi Goreng, the taste fell short of the expectations that we had, it wasn’t as fragrant as we thought it’ll be. Still, the chicken and prawn were pretty good. However, the sauce again was pretty overpowering. So if you’re not good with spicy, you can request for it to separate the sauce.

The Day at OMMA [120k RP ~ SGD 11] A refreshing cocktail made from lemon-infused vodka, lychee liqueur, and fresh lemon juice, and topped with leafage pandan soda. Served long over ice in a stem glass This drink was definitely a favourite of ours. It was sweet and so refreshing.

Berry Spritz [55k RP ~ SGD 5]
A fruity combination of mixed berries, orange juice, thyme syrup splash of tonic water.

Tip: One of the mistakes we made was underestimating the portion size of the food and we ended up not finishing the food. Also, you may want to go for a swim first before getting the food. We didn’t eat a lot because we thought we might risk indigestion and also the food will turn cold.

We did eventually spend slightly more, mostly due to the alcohol we got, and wanted to sit near the pool area. The staff there were pretty accommodating, since we didn’t book it beforehand, and moved us to the Lounge (min spend 1000k rupiah [~SGD 88]), nearer to the pool.

The DJ was on that Friday. We did find out that their DJ is normally on every weekend, starting from 3 pm so we weren’t very sure why there was a DJ there that day. Still, we loved the music he played as it was pretty old school, just the style of music that we loved! In addition to that, there is a nice Balinese dance performance.

We hung around the pool area and just chilled. I loved that the pool has a great vantage over the waterfalls.

Note: Do remember if you’re shifting from the seats to the pool, to switch the glass into plastic cups instead.

Overall, it was a pretty good experience with good vibes all around. The food was average but I think still relatively affordable. So as long as you come with a few friends, you’ll be able to hit the minimum spend for the tables. The best part about this place is the view that you get. Definitely, a place for you to chill and relax with your friends. Since they can get pretty crowded, especially on weekends, you can call in advance to reserve their tables.
