2021 JANUARY BUJO: MOUNTAINS & MOON THEME

by | Jan 15, 2021 | BULLET JOURNAL, SELF CARE | 0 comments

Happy New Year to everyone reading. 2020 is officially done and dusted.

Let’s put that year behind us. And begin afresh with what we have.

At the end of every year, I always feel so optimistic and excited for the next year to begin. If that’s you, Hi-Five!! 👋🏻

I love it especially because I can start in a brand new bullet journal (I’m always trying new ones and have a few different ones lying around).

So in case you have not checked out my set-up in my 2021 BUJO, you can check it out over here!

So this year (How is it that half a month passed already???), having come from a year of self-reflection and a rough idea of what I want to do, my goals are categorised so they are not so messy. It helps me see how my goals are helping in the progress of each area as well. So that’s great.

Okay, so after setting up your bullet journal, let’s kickstart into January 2021!

1. COVER PAGE

This year, I’m trying to make a circular centrepiece for all my monthly spreads.

Beginning with my January spread. I love how the mountain, the moon 🌙 and the stars ⭐️ turned out. I added some of those winter trees that seem to be able to withstand anything that comes their way. This was inspired by @bujo.enthusiast on Instagram.

January is a month where it seems like there is a lot of obstacles, the mountains we need to clear. Whilst facing these obstacles, we’ve got to be like the strong and tall trees which can withstand anything thrown our way.

Okay, I’d admit that I really just thought up all of that but I really love how this all just fit together beautifully 😍

Generally, I don’t keep a theme going, except for the one I did in November last year which was inspired by the daily applications and webpage I use. You can check that out over here. So keeping this simply means I can try a whole range of spreads in the month.

2. CALENDAR

This spread was inspired by @danicreativesco. I wanted to incorporate a bit of washi in the calendar so I left a bit of space for that. However, when I started filling in the spreads, I totally forgot all about it. I’m definitely going to start to experiment with washi tape in the spreads for this year’s BUJO! We’ll see how things go.

3. QUOTE

This month is all about new beginnings and starting afresh? So the phrase that I decided on is “It’s a slow process (much like growing a tree) but quitting won’t speed anything up. You’ve got to just let it grow and let it take root. Then you’ll enjoy the fruits of your labour.” This quote was adapted by me but the original quote’s credit goes to its respective writer!

I hope that it reminds us that it takes time to make progress. Things are not going to just magically happen overnight. Be patient and take care of it consistently. One day, you’ll thank yourself for it and enjoy the rewards that come with that patience ☺️

3. EXPENSE TRACKER

This expense tracker was inspired by @thatbujokid. This month’s expense tracker is slightly longer than usual. I believe that with the measures loosening up in Singapore, there will be more going out which means more expenses. Although I do need to remind myself to remain thrifty and save up in the midst of these activities. For a more instructional way of how I set up my monthly expenses, do check out the post over here for more information!

4. WEEKLY SPREAD

This month, I’ve opted to experiment with different layouts and explore more options. So these are the results! I’ll let y’all know which ones are the ones that worked and which ones don’t. So do check back with this post!

5. JANUARY MEMORIES

As usual, I hope to keep track of some things that I did this year. One of those ways is to ensure that I photograph moments in the month. So this will be the page for those moments. The second photo was inspired by @tritopus_ on Instagram. The third photo was inspired by @mandyslifeinabullet. Lastly, the last photo was inspired by @keletters.

6. REFLECTION

At the end of the month, it also is important to ensure that I reflect on what went wrong and what was good for me which I may want to take into the next month. Especially when it comes to spreads. I realized that it was so easy to become inspired by spreads on the social media platforms and think “Hey, I think that would totally work out for me!” When in actual reality, it does not. It’s time not to fool myself any longer and be true to myself. By the way has anyone watched Wonder Woman 1984? Did anyone catch that reference?

Anyways, with that, I hope that you’ll be inspired and do keep a lookout for a blogpost on Back to School BUJO which I collate some of the best ideas to kickstart your school year! I’ve done a similar one last year, you can check it out over here!
