2020 DECEMBER BUJO: CRAFT THEME

by | Dec 22, 2020 | BULLET JOURNAL, SELF CARE | 0 comments

Finally, we’re down to the end of 2020! How much of your New Years resolution have you accomplished?

Out of the many that I made, I’m not proud to say that I have not fulfilled many of them. But I have active plans to either fulfil them this year or work on them next year. I’ve written a blog post on how you can work towards accomplishing your goals in 2021 over here!

What I used in the making of the spread:

  1. My BUJO from Kikki K.
  2. Craft Paper
  3. Uni-ball Signo DX in Black
  4. Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen in Black (Optional)
  5. Tombow Dual Brushpen Art Markers in No. 922?
  6. Crayola Supertips in the Orange and Brown (Optional)
  7. Sakura Gel White Pen
  8. Ruler

And that’s it! You don’t actually need so many supplies as I have here. All you need is your trusty black pen and you can be ready to create a spread. See my blog post on starting a simple BUJO using just a black pen.

Okay, back to the topic at hand. This month, I’ve decided to play with the craft paper which I had at home (I was gonna make a scrapbook with that but that, of course, didn’t happen 🙃). I also wanted to use my white pen which has not been ‘activated’ for a while.

Some tips before you begin this spread:

I would suggest using a thinner craft paper. The paper I used was about 200gsm which made it so difficult for me to stick to my BUJO. The paper also tacked on each other and made writing in the white space a bit difficult after they dried which led to the tearing of my BUJO 😞. However, this may be because my BUJO is only 70gsm (but I am in the process of ratifying this so do keep a lookout in my next BUJO post here!)

1. COVER PAGE

My cover page is simple. I cut out the craft paper into the rectangle for the centre of the page and trimmed the corners. Just a little “Welcome to December 2020. Last Month of the Year, Let’s go!”

Indeed let’s get this year over and done with!

2. CALENDAR

The second page, it’s a calendar layout which I’ve been liking quite a bit. I can write important events for the day and leave the details for my weekly spreads. I highlighted the days of the month with my Tombow Dual Brush Pen.

I’ve also decided to end the year with the quote, “The Month of Joy, Happiness to finish what you started” with my Crayola Markers. I think that this quote is highly fitting for this month because I always love the end of the year.

I tend to feel much happier and motivated towards the end of the year. Maybe it is because of the Christmas Cheer that is going around or it is because a brand new year is coming. But whatever it is, I’m on board!

3. MONTHLY GOALS

At the end of the year when I start looking back at some of the goals I’ve completed and some which I have not. So, I hope to use the last month of the year to see if I can start and dare I say, complete some of the said goals.

Better late than never, am I right? 😉

On the right side of the spread, as per usual it’s my three major projects at hand. I stuck some craft paper on the top with the edges trimmed. I actually messed up the writing on the craft paper which was why I pasted another piece on the top. I quite like this overlap, double layer to be honest. The three projects at the side are denoted in calligraphy and I used my Tombow Dual Brush to highlight it.

This month, I’ve ended my semester and have a Winter Internship instead. So, I replaced “studies” with “work” These are some of the goals which I hope to complete this semester. Fingers Crossed that I’ll be able to accomplish them!

4. EXPENSE TRACKER

My expense tracker is relatively similar since I’ve started it. Although I’d admit that I do forget to track at times and it’s so difficult to balance. Any accounting students here relate?

If you’re in a similar situation, don’t give up!! Tracking something is better than tracking nothing! Alternatively, if you want to try out this spread and need an in-depth guide on how to use this spread, be sure to read my September BUJO spread!

5. WEEKLY SPREAD

My weekly spread is a simple listing this month. Personally, I didn’t see a need in writing out an hour by hour plan for my day since I spend the majority of my time at work. So, I settled on this spread for now. I separated the two pages into 8 sections. 7 are used for each day in the week and the last box is to just note the week in the year.

I cut the craft paper into little rectangles and wrote each day of the week with my Sakura Gelly Roll White Pen. I also used the Tombow Fudenosuke Brush Pen to give some drop shadow for the boxes to get that 3D effect.

I’m still experimenting with more layouts so things will definitely change-up in my next spread! Keep a lookout for that!

6. THOUGHTS AND REFLECTIONS

One of my favourite spreads is to look back on the memories of each month. This is the one for December. It is a space for the light reflection of the month. A reflection on things I’ve done, I hope to have done this month, and definitely on how I’ve grown this month.

I’ve also included one for the entire year so I can take a step back to see how much things have changed since I’ve started the year.

7. DECEMBER PHOTO ALBUM

Last but not least, my photo album of December, I’ve been trying to do more photo-taking to keep track of the memories that I have for the month. This was the one I tried saving but unfortunately, it was unsalvageable. So, unfortunately, I had to come up with another one.

The New and improved one looks much more cohesive. Sometimes you win and other times you don’t get what you want (and that’s perfectly fine). What matters is that we keep trying :).

Alright, so that is it for my December 2020 BUJO. It was not as like my other creations with more drawings but I love the neutral tone and simplicity of it.

Enjoy the rest of December and keep a lookout for my next blog post 👀 for migrating 2021 BUJO and January 2021 coming out over the next few weeks! Pinky promises that it’s not gonna be as late as this one!
